In 1st quarter of 2010 Ukrainian household spent 58 percent on food, 33 percent on other goods and services.
Very sad numbers: 1.5 percent of total consumption was spent on entertainment and culture, 1.6 percent spent on eating out. There is no life for Ukrainian households.

I dont agree with the conclusion - Id say Ukrainian households can make life interesting without paid entertainment or eating in restaurants - for example, you buy food and have a shaslyk party!
It seems to be about right. Ukrainians spend large share of their income on food and necessities. The governemtn continues to raise fees for utilities: gas, electricity, and water. The government inept regulation of food markets raises food prices. The government raises taxes (e.g. new Tax Code). All together take a huge toll on a consumer income of average Ukrainian.
Shashlik (kebab), however, is a good example of mixing food and entertainment that substitutes eating out in restaurant. Average Ukrainian cannot afford eating out a lot or at all. Can average Ukrainian afford the shashlik anymore?
